A tribute to the wonderous Frida Kahlo, most especially for our lovely friend Lisa, who lives in Mexico!
Frock-opshoppped, many years ago, and is likely from Mexico originally
Earrings, pendant, "rebozo" (shawl)-San Cristobel de las Casas, Mexico
(That's my parents in the pendant; it's a sort of locket)
Other necklaces-London and Thailand
Headpiece-made with the loving hands of Sarah
Cross-Cozumel, Mexico
Frida heart-from the gorgeous Shelley
Moustache-I carry it around in my purse, you just never know when you might need one
I have been obsessed with Frida for as long as I can remember.
I am drawn to strong, powerful women who aren't afraid to push boundaries, and Frida was undeniably such a woman, and just one of many I admire and am inspired by!
One of the highlights of my life, thus far, was going to her house in Coyacan, Mexico City a few years ago.
Obviously, G and I are very influenced by Mexican (and Indian) colours and designs for our house!

I have to say - there would never be a boring moment in your house Helga. Any lady that carries a tache' round in her bag is pretty rad in my book;) I love these photos - I am a huge fan of Freida as well and LOVE the headpiece Sarah made you. So awesome!
A Frida lover and amazing colorful style makes you perfect in my eyes!
Ha, what a wonderful tribute.
Wow, that headband is out of this world! I absolutely love it, and as you know, I always love seeing glimpses of your fabulous rainbow house. Freida is such an inspiring woman - hurrah for them I say! xxxxx

utterly fabulous!! I really love your house, it looks so bright and breezing and so damn cool! Your Frida tribute has just influenced me into a buying a book on her, at long last and also one of those Mexican tin wall plaques. Yours are all fantastic. You look wonderful, the Headband is the tits, Sarah is a genius. The pendant is such a lovely way to keep your parents with you and the tash makes you look dead distinguished!
Keep being awesome! xxx
Frida has a great influence in my life and work too and I adore your tribute to her!!!!Sarah's headband is beautiful and I love the cross and the Frida's wall ornament, Mexican house style reminds me a bit of Italian style, but in a more colorful and happy way!! I need a pair of moustache to carry with me, I think I might need them too!!
Love you more than rubber ducks!!
xxxxx
I too love Frida and if you cut me open you'd find a lil Mexican girl:). I adore this tribute and the necklace of your parents is just the sweetest! Your house is one big fiesta and you and G have made it so killer with all that color!
Xxoo
Love everything about this. Boo to white walls. I'm sick of all the home shows telling me to paint my walls gray. Yuck!
I love your love for Frida and all things Mexicans, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Mil besos and hapiness in 2013.

Ha ha love your tribute!
Frida was a fearless women. She did what she wanted and screw everyone else.
You look wonderful and love the uni-brow. A mustache can come in handy that's for sure.
The colors in your home just make me happy looking in. My hubs family is from Central America and also Lummi Indian so that blend really influences us too. A couple of years ago I spent a few days painting the inside of their house, each room a bright color like yours. It makes such a great atmosphere and keeps our mood up for sure. Each room in my house is a different color too. How can we not be happy in Orange??
Love your headpiece Helga, so creative!!
I love Frida! And I love this outfit inspired by her! Amazing! Kisses x x x x
My, but the fun never stops 'round your place! Happy New Year!!
xoxo

I cannot tell you how much I ADORE this outfit, Frida I mean Helga! The crown, the dress, the tache! You're a style queen!
Amazing. Glad to see your still rockin' it. M x
Awesome tribute. I adore the headpiece. I have a duck that is quite similar and thanks to you I have some ideas what to do with it apart from it sitting beside my bathtub ;)
You rock a mono and a moustache, you are wonderful. I love Frida and Mexico, not that I have been but dream of going one day! xxx
I believe she would have loved how you rock the Helga Crown. And the unibrow..... ; )

I loved your whole Frida tribute, right down to your magnifico eyebrow(s). I love Frida's art as well...oh, and have been obsessed with Mexico for years.
I never really liked Frida, but maybe it's because she never put a rubber duck in her headband. If only she had loosened up a little bit!
Your house is so bright and exciting!
As soon as I saw the colours of your house in the background I immediately thought of Frida's house in Coyoacan (one of my highlights of my trip to Mexico as well). I LOVE this Post - it is the perfect embodiment of your love of bright colours, your creative spirit and your awesome sense of humour - what a fab welcome to 2013!
I love Frida's paintings. And I love your tribute to Frida. You look wonderfull with that moustache. :D
Didn't know that your gorgeous house was inspired by the Mexican colours. I love your style and colours in your house. Photo's of your house bring always a smile on my face.

Fridafreak? Of course! http://ulla-marie.blogspot.se/2010/12/klart-jag-hart-part-32.html
But not as literal as your tribute :-)
Hey! Just sharing my post with you. Inspired by you I did Frida too! http://moderncolorsblog.blogspot.com/2013/01/i-am-firda-kahlo.html
this is a lovely tribute. the Helga crown just killed me, it's sooo much fun!
I have loved Frida Kahlo for years, I got my hadns on a lot of her books whenever I could when I was younger, including a fac simile copy of her dieares from the bookstore at the Louvre back in the 90's. I was lucky to have been able to see a retrospective of her work in Lisbon years ago, it was marvelous.
I was cruising through (came for the yellow skirt) and saw your Frida and had to say, BRAVA!!!!!!!
And, erm, ole! (With an accent on the e, of course.)
I adore your style, and Frida is the best.
